Your customers are already online. Every day, people in Tanzania search for products, ask for recommendations in groups and scroll past businesses like yours. So when you want to find customers online in Tanzania, the question is not whether they are online. It is where, and how you reach them.

Here are eight places to find customers online in Tanzania, and what to do in each one.

1. Instagram: hashtags, locations and comments

Search hashtags and locations your buyers use, like your city, your product or your niche. Follow and engage with accounts your customers follow. Leave helpful comments, not “DM for price”. People check the profiles of those who add value.

2. TikTok search

Many young Tanzanians now search on TikTok like they search on Google. Make videos that answer the exact questions your buyers type, and use those words in your caption. To turn those viewers into buyers, read how to attract customers online in Tanzania.

3. Facebook groups and Marketplace

Facebook groups for your city, your industry or your type of customer are full of people asking “who sells…?”. Join, follow the group rules and answer questions honestly. Facebook Marketplace is also a free place to list products for buyers near you.

4. WhatsApp

WhatsApp is where most Tanzanian sales are closed. Use a WhatsApp Business account with a catalog, quick replies and labels. Post your products on status, and only add people to broadcast lists if they have agreed. Don’t depend on status alone, though; the other places in this guide will bring you new people, and these are the ways to earn from them online.

5. Google Maps (Google Business Profile)

If you have a shop, office or service area, create a free Google Business Profile. When someone searches for your type of business nearby, you can appear on Google Maps with your phone number, photos and reviews.

6. Online marketplaces and classifieds

Local classified sites and marketplaces let you list products where buyers are already looking. Use clear photos, honest descriptions and your real price. Always meet safely and confirm payment before delivery.

7. Your existing customers

Your happiest customers are your best source of new ones. Ask them for reviews and referrals, and give them a reason to share, like a small discount for each friend who buys. One trusted recommendation often beats any advert.

8. Sponsored ads

When you are ready to grow faster, sponsored ads on Instagram and Facebook let you find new customers by location, age and interests, and send them directly to your WhatsApp or DMs. If you are too busy to run them yourself, my Sponsored Ads Management service can run them for you.

How to turn someone you found into a buyer

Finding people is only half the work. To turn them into customers:

  • Reply quickly and answer the question they actually asked.
  • Share your price clearly, with delivery and payment options.
  • Show proof: reviews, photos, delivery videos.
  • Follow up politely with people who asked but did not buy.

Start with two places

Don’t try all eight at once. Pick the two places where your buyers spend the most time, show up there every day for a month, and measure the results. Want to learn how to bring those customers in with ads? Start with my Uza Deilee course.

Questions about how to find customers online in Tanzania

What is the fastest way to find customers online in Tanzania?
Sponsored ads are the fastest way to reach new people. Facebook groups, WhatsApp and asking existing customers for referrals are the fastest free options.
Do I need a website to find customers online?
No. Many businesses sell well using Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp only. A website helps later with trust and Google searches.
